Story Board: Lena Rivera

Background:

A 12 year old who discovered her love for music. Ever since she heard local DJ mix beats at school talent shows, she’s been fascinated by how everything comes together. She tried using apps like GarageBand but quickly become frustrated by how complex it is to navigate.

User Goals:

She’s hoping to showcase her final product at the school talent show. Most importantly, she’s hoping to create music with ease which then she can focus on having fun with music and build confidence in the process.

Narrative Story:

Lena puts on the VR headset and is immediately transported to a colorful world where music and light move together. She quickly learns to transform music and change rhythms with her hands. With this new tool, Lena starts experimenting by adjusting beats and watching how color shifts. Through this tool, her passion for music grows stronger, and she becomes proud of what she’s created.

Roadblocks: Lena struggles to understand how beats and notes affect colors at first. Sometimes the colors feel out of sync with the music, and she gets frustrated when things don’t look or sound the way she imagined. She’s worried she’s not using the tool right and won’t be able to create music she’s proud of.

Further Information:

Upon using Harmonia more often, Lena starts to overcome her roadblock. She figures that out by allowing herself to feel the music more than she’s focused on making music to impress people.
